| Paul-Henri Bouchard and his brothers have fallen under the spell
of Domaine des Grands Devers in
the southern Côtes du Rhône near
Valréas in the region known as
                the ‘Enclave des Papes’.
 Characterised by a certain coolness,
 it has a remarkable physiological
 resemblance to more northerly
                vineyards, and consequently produces
                wines of elegance and finesse.
 Since 1999 Paul-Henri, Louis-
 Pascal, Guillaume and Matthieu
 have combined their individual
                talents to provide the dynamism
                necessary to relaunch the domaine.
 Two of them, Paul-Henri and
Louis-Pascal, live and work full time
 at the property.
 Here Paul-Henri, the trained
oenologist, can give full reign to his talents as a winemaker as well
as overseeing all the work in the
vineyard.
 | For his part Louis-Pascal is responsible
                for the marketing and customer
relations, both in France and abroad. He also manages the chambres d’hôtes
                accommodation which they created
when they took over the domaine.
 Guillaume, an accountant, looks after
                the finances, helped by Matthieu,
who is also proficient in IT.
 Both Guillaume and Matthieu take
an active part in the vineyard work,
especially at harvest time, and contribute
to the important tastings from the
                vats, which will eventually determine
the final blend of the wine.
 Coming from a well-known
                Burgundian wine merchant family
they found in this vineyard a ‘terroir’
 which was familiar to them.
